Hi

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 8, 2008, 9:42 PM

Hi

Finished college. Moved to Atlanta few days ago. Got a studio downtown Atlanta. Hoping to survive as an artist/photographer...

The Kaboom Ink will be out this week, the order of the artists will also be up. My four pages of drawings took me back when I spend hours on one page, prior to my interest in photography, back when I had a lot of time on my hand.

Will upload the pages this week.

The project need one more traditional artist. If you are interested send me a message.

This month AfterCapture Magazine featured the Kaboom Collaboration project in an interview. They were kind enough to place one of the image on the cover. [link]

Lovely Featured

Featured in Advanced Photoshop

Featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine Issue 46. Insight two page spread on the Kaboom Collaboration Project.

I can't wait till my last two classes are over. Been putting a lot of photography gig on hold until I am fully out of school, for full time freelancing. Reasons being that I get distracted by it which may affect my school performance, not risking that right now...I have many plans, and projects but they will have to wait until I am fully out and in the playground.

Hope you all enjoy the summer, it is quite hot out so stay cool. ;)

The Kaboom Ink is about to take off, waiting on few more artist participants and the book is on its way. I am also working on the first four pages to get things rolling. This is going to be some treat to see at the end.

Kaboom Collaboration

Expansion Pack

"Ink"

---

Introducing the new extension to the Kaboom Collaboration project under the expansion pack: "Ink".

Overall the project has been digital collaborations between the artists and myself. Digital graphics and illustrations with digital photography considered, there is a need to go back to the roots with traditional methods of expression. With this need, I have adopted the idea of passing a sketchbook from one artist to another to tell a story through different styles each artist possesses.

This addition to the expansion pack is called "Ink". Basically, the artist uses ink to sketch out his/her visuals to continue a story that the previous artist has started. This project is quite the opposite of the current digital methods: there is no undo - any marking made on the paper is permanent; and with the combined time for drawing and travel from one artist to the next, the process also takes longer.

With this in mind, this new addition to the project will give the audience an alternative sense of authenticity and add a more organic approach to creating.

---

I would like to invite traditional artists to this project. If you are interested in participating, here are the details:

Qualifications:

:bulletgreen: Open to the first 25 artists, to visual artists and writers.

:bulletgreen: Visual artists: send me a link to your online portfolio that demonstrates your traditional use of pen drawings for consideration.

:bulletgreen: Writers: to allow me to get a sense of your style, send me a link to any writings you have published online.

:bulletgreen: This project is on a first come, first serve basis (after acceptance).

---

Theme:

:bulletgreen: The theme of this first sketchbook is childhood. With the guidelines you are allowed to express what childhood is to you, share your childhood memories, or a memory you wish you had, and so on.

---

Rules:

:bulletgreen: Each artist gets 4 pages to complete. No more, no less.

:bulletgreen: There is a 1 week duration for the completion of the 4 pages.

:bulletgreen: Only these tools are allowed: ink pen, whiteout, and markers. Please do not cut the pages, or use watercolor or spray paints.

:bulletgreen: Please do not touch the previous work done by other artists.

:bulletgreen: During the procession of the book you are responsible for its safety and cleanliness.

:bulletgreen: Please do not rip or tear out pages. If you would like a copy of your finished sketch, you are allowed to scan it, but do not claim other artists work as your own.

:bulletgreen: You must sign and print your name somewhere small on each of the 4 pages. Don't let that be the focal point.

:bulletgreen: You are responsible for mailing the sketchbook to the next artist on the list.

:bulletgreen: The final artist will mail the book back to me to complete its journey.

:bulletgreen: All of the works done by you are copyrighted to you.

:bulletgreen: When signing up for this project you are allowing me, as the project director, to use the images to promote the Kaboom Collaboration project.

:bulletgreen: If the book ever sells, each artist will get 4% of the final price. Though 4% may seem little, it is a fair division to all 25 artists. Also, the book will not be cheap.

The sketchbook will one day be an exhibition. If you would like to be part of this project please send me a note for consideration.

I will start the first 4 pages. Will you be the next artist I send the book to?

Grand Opening

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 29, 2008, 7:42 PM

Grand opening of the "Print" section at by Tuan Photography & Arts. This took me a few weeks to complete. I like the style of it. Elegance, sophistication, classy, and mysterious at the same time. I need to look for more vintage frames, they compliment the style in my works very well. Take a look and give me your thoughts on your experience through the new section.

I also like to share with you PicLens which is an awesome image and video viewer, and extension to your web browser. This unique add-on helps browsing images and video with ease, though it only works on PicLens enabled sites, deviantART is one of them.

Now, I gotta prepare two portfolios (Photography & Arts) for a meeting in 5 days. Gotta make a 4 hours drive to Atlanta morning for discussion on the photo shoot clothing ad campaign...this is my first big one, I am quite excited! Other than that, I also need to look for a place in Atlanta, and continuing with my two Art History classes online...it is going to be a very exciting, and busy week ahead.

In the mean time, I am thinking of putting together a book on the 1st Chronicle, "The Great Bloom". But there are many images left that still needs poetry/prose to go along with them. I need to look for more writers to continue the "expansion pack" of the project...

1st Chronicle - The Great Bloom

All the stars in the sky are flying

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 21, 2008, 8:32 AM

Hello everyone.

I realized that I have a bad memory of things, often times I don't remember names, but I remember faces. Perhaps, I need to take a closer look at my psyche and see what is up. Nah...it is like a black box chained in a room with one thousand, thousand years old warlords from the Kaboom Dynasty guarding it...

Perhaps one day I'll reach for it.

On the other news, been busy designing a "SHOP" section for my website. Which will be replace by the current "PRINT" section. It is looking good so far, the exact style, and feel I want along with the web presentation layout. I am not a designer, but had took one course in Intro Graphic Design I have some clue. Foremost I think the design aspect is from working with amazing designers, and illustrators in the Kaboom Collaboration project. Hopefully I will finish the design layout and code it before the end of next week. Summer school is starting in few days, after that I will be getting a BFA in Photography. First and only person from my family to get a degree from college...

I haven't been shooting much, just been thinking about life, and my next move in it. There are few things I need to learn while in Savannah, GA gaining more wisdom from a place I may not visit again for a really, really long time. The world will be a playground. It IS!

Anyway, I have set up few photo shoots to kick off the farewell to this college town.
